Robinson Lighting has been perfecting the art of lighting for over 85 years. Thomas Robinson was the first generation of the Robinson family to venture into the lighting industry as a chandler (candle maker) in Montreal, Quebec around 1850. His son, William Wadby Robinson established a successful lighting agency recognized as the first dealer of pre-wired lighting fixtures in Western Canada in 1919. A few years later, Burt A. Robinson, a third generation of the Robinson family founded B.A Robinson Co. Ltd supplying lighting and electrical products to Canadian commercial and residential customers in 1936. The company was later acquired by Burt’s two sons, Ross and Bruce Robinson in 1973. Before long, Robinson Lighting became it’s own free standing entity, and is now managed by Bruce’s children, Brett Robinson (President) and Leigh Robinson (Executive Vice President) who are the fifth generation of the Robinson family to enter into the lighting industry.
